CARE – CONSERVATION OF HAND EMBROIDERIES

Hand embroideries compose works of art with timeless value, and when they are conserved correctly, they can pass on from generation to generation.

  • It is recommended that special liquid detergent is used for silk and sensitive clothes.
  • Wash by hand or use the washing machine, in 15 – 30 degrees Celsius (59 – 86 Fahrenheit) max. Choose a program for very sensitive clothes.
  • Squeezing, chlorine and exposure to the sun are forbidden during drying.
  • Large surfaces should be used for the laundry.
  • Dry cleaning is only allowed for embroideries without pearls, beads, valuable and semi-valuable rocks.
  • Adjust the iron's temperature according to the fabric’s resistance. Low temperature is recommended.
  • Embroidery surfaces with gold crochets or rock additions should be ironed from the wrong side, and preferably after having covered it with a piece of white thin fabric. Then use the steam iron.
  • Lavender in a special packaging should be used in storage spaces so that it doesn’t come in direct contact with the embroidery.
  • Most products should be renewed after 3 months (or after the specified time period recommended by the manufacturer).
